the library

My favourite library in Moscow

There’s just something about the library during autumm; the books seem to give off a slight warmth. I’ve always been a fan of them since childhood, my mom always encouraged us to borrow books to read as kids and I never grew out of the habit. I think libraries are wonderful, there are so many books, classes and other resources all for free!

I find it much easier to study at the library than I do at home, I just end up getting distracted at home…

I always come to the library if I need to use a computer too (since neither my husband nor I own one). I am studying Russian via video lessons, so it’s more comfortable to watch on the large computer screen than on my phone. My local library is never busy so it’s easy to focus on the lessons.

I hate to admit it but I haven’t been able to commit as much time to studying Russian as I had expected to. So during my month off work in August, I spent a lot of time studying and am trying my best to keep up the habit even though I’m back at work (even if I can only manage 30 minutes per day). It feels like slow progress to be honest, but I notice myself understanding more and more as each day passes!

The weather is getting much colder already, and the nights are much longer. I hope that I will have made some good progress on my Russian by the end of winter!

  1. I know this is a slightly older one but I hope you’ve managed to keep it up and progressed to where you wanted to since then. Working in a library where there’s some space and peace and quiet sounds perfect.
